I will introduce about Korea's famous place 'Go Hui-dong's House'



Come to Bukchon street 'Changdeokgung-gil (Alley)' if visit in Korean Seoul.

Over the stone wall, you can see the Changdeok palace.

Inside the wall, there is the space for the royal families of the Joseon Dynasty

but outside the wall, there is the space for the common people of the Dynasty.

Walking on Changdeokgung-gil (Alley),

you can see Go Hui-dong's House in Wonseo-dong,

the first western style painter of Korea,

who lived in the house for forty-one years.

Go Hui-dong(1886–1965) was the first painter of Korea.

His pen name is Chun-gok.

He who born in Seoul was  the first Korean painter to adopt Western styles.

Influenced by his father, who was the court's official foreign language interpreter,

Go studied French and worked for the government for a while.

Later, he decide to learn Western-style painting and went to Japan to realize his dream.

After returning to Korea, Go endeavored to bring advancement
in the art world of Korea.

He became one the most important figures throughout the history of Korean art.

Koh Heedong, the first western-style painter,

lived in this house nearly his entire life.

From the outside, the house looks like a typical hanok but inside,

you can see the western and Japanese elements together.

It is said that he drew a rough sketch of the house before it was built.



Various props within the room was pretty.

'Jangdokdae(platform for crocks of sauces and condiments)'
is at rest in a pleasant garden, and house's garden getting a lot of sunlight.

It's certainly sunny enough in the garden.

The house has a comfortable, cozy atmosphere feel to it.
